On 12 June 2024, in the village of Kayindy, Panfilov District, Chui Region, the AgroLead team organised a Field Day on the topic of ‘Soil protection and resource-saving technologies: Zero tillage on rainfed lands.’ The event was held as part of the GOPA AFC project ‘Creation/development of services promoting the expansion of improved farming methods on rainfed lands and their further development towards climate-optimised/resource-saving agriculture,’ supported by the ‘Green Economy and Sustainable Development of the Private Sector in Kyrgyzstan’ programme, implemented by GIZ with co-financing from BMZ, the EU and the Swiss Government.
The event was attended by interested farmers from the Panfilov and Moscow districts of the Chui region, as well as farmers from the Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions. Among the invited guests were representatives of the Institute of Agriculture, commercial companies, international organisations, the Jalal-Abad Rural Advisory Service and local authorities. The field day was opened with the participation of the akim of the Panfilov district, Masayev Bekmaat Yuldashevich.
The field day was divided into two parts. The first part featured demonstrations of agricultural machinery and equipment for soil-conserving and resource-saving farming. In the second part, participants were shown fields where the no-till method was used. Agronomists from AgroLead presented an economic analysis that demonstrated that the no-till method not only improves the soil but also provides greater income with a relative reduction in costs compared to traditional methods.
We would like to express our gratitude to farmers, stakeholders and partners for their cooperation and participation in this important project!
