On March 9, 2021 within the framework of the UN FAO project «Creating enabling environments for enhanced climate resilience in agriculture», a sowing demonstration took place and the first trainings on seed wheat and seed safflower began.
Within the framework of the project, experts plan to conduct a series of trainings on the production and agricultural technology of growing high-quality seed material for 4 key crops: spring wheat, barley, potatoes and safflower. The quality seed propagation program includes training during the growing season on target crops based on demonstration plots. Demonstration sites will be established in four regions:

  • Spring wheat – Chuy region, Issyk-Ata region;
  • Barley – Naryn region, Ak-Tala district;
  • Potatoes – Naryn region, At-Bashinsky district;
  • Safflower – Jalal-Abad region.

Program Objective: To maintain the quantity, quality and availability of seeds of selected crop varieties, as well as to empower individual beneficiaries in seed multiplication and production practices in line with integrated plant protection.
