UN FAO Project «Strengthening the Capacity of Agricultural Extension Services in Central Asia on Sustainable Intensification of Crop Production»

In October, a five-day theoretical training seminar on greenhouse farming was held. The training was conducted by an expert of the UN FAO, professor of the University of Tirana, Astrit Balliu. The training was attended by about 50 experienced and novice agronomists from all regions of Kyrgyzstan. In addition to extensive theoretical material, the professor shared his practical experience in greenhouse farming. A field visit was organized, where participants had the opportunity to study various types of greenhouses: a polycarbonate greenhouse, a plastic film and a hydroponic greenhouse made of polycarbonate. This was the final seminar with the participation of an international expert in the framework of this project. From November 2018 to October 2019, the UN FAO organized the arrival of experienced international experts from different countries in 5 areas: organic agriculture, seed production, conservation agriculture, integrated plant protection and greenhouse farming. We thank all participants and international experts for the intensive and fruitful joint work, the results of which, we hope, will bring many benefits to agriculture in Kyrgyzstan.
