UNDP and RKDF build capacity of dairy farm owners

On November 23-27, 2021, the second series of trainings on the management of dairy cattle breeding, the basics of veterinary medicine and artificial insemination for farmers was held in the Issyk-Ata region.
The trainings were carried out as part of the promotion of the loan product of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund for the cluster development of dairy production with the support of the UNDP project “Strengthening the capacity to finance sustainable development in the CIS region” in cooperation with RKDF and PA “Agrolead”. The UNDP project is being implemented with the financial support of the Russian Federation.

As in the last training in Zhayil region, the training participants listened to lectures on the dairy business and livestock management, on proper feeding, animal health, primary veterinary measures, artificial insemination and the design of modern barns. In practical exercises on farms, the participants were shown a comparative demonstration of poor and good management: examples of feeding and keeping animals, the process and hygiene of milking with a milking machine, primary veterinary measures, as well as the main mistakes in keeping and feeding animals.

Coach Kalmurat Dzhaparkulov noted the high interest of the participants and the demand for the development of more highly profitable types of dairy business. Farmers were offered such options as breeding of pedigree animals and presale fattening. The participants also showed a good level of preparation at the demonstration of farms, for example, the selection of high-quality, highly nutritious animal feed.
A meeting with a representative of the RKDF was also organized for the participants of the training, during which they received information about loan products and procedures for applying for funding from the RKDF.
As a result of the training, the farmers were awarded certificates of completion of the training, textbooks “Farmer’s Handbook” and a Handbook on dairy farming, developed specifically for farmers in the Chuy region, the electronic version of which is available at this link.
