GIZ project «Monofloral honey – economic independence for rural women»

PA «Agrolead» has started the implementation of the GIZ IRDP project «Monofloral honey – economic independence for rural women». The goal of the project is to create alternative highly profitable source of income for women and their families in target areas by developing and improving value chains of monofloral honey and medicinal herbs (sage and thyme). The target region is the territory of the forestry enterprises of Aksy and Bazar-Korgon districts. The target group of the project includes:

  • Women wishing to start a beekeeping business as well as experienced beekeeping families, preferably led by women, interested in modernizing their beekeeping business.
  • Forestry land tenants wishing to grow thyme and sage and cooperate with beekeepers participating in the project. Participating beekeepers can simultaneously cultivate thyme and sage.

From 3 to 5 March, an information meeting was held in the Bazar-Korgon and Aksy districts of the Jalal-Abad region. At the moment, active work to mobilize the project beneficiaries and select places for participation in the project is underway.
